1. Job purpose

The roles and responsibilities of the life insurance accountant include conducting life insurance accounting processes, maintaining regulatory compliance, optimizing financial efficiency, participating in projects, and contributing to the company's strategic growth and success in the life insurance sector.

2. Accountabilities

Life Insurance Accounting

  • Coordinate with the related divisions to support a setup system for new life insurance products.
  • Prepare, monitor, analyze, & control General Ledger accounts timely, proactive & regularly to provide/update to life insurance transactions (premium, claims expenses, compensation, allowances...).
  • To ensure the month-end closing procedure is on time, month-end accounting transactions are fully completed, and in compliance with accounting policy & government regulation.
  • Reconcile outstanding balance sheet accounts and analysis efficiency of premium and expenses (account receivable, account payable, premium and expenses).

Projects

  • Participate in the company projects to set up and test accounting transactions in order to improve business processes.
  • Evaluate, develop, and improve department controls, systems, and procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency.

3. Requirements

Education& Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, audit or related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in Finance, Accounting, Audit or the Life Insurance industry is preferred.

Technical skills

  • A profound understanding of life insurance accounting principles and practices is essential. This includes knowledge of specialized accounting standards and regulations specific to the life insurance industry, such as GAAP and IFRS guidelines.
  • Ability to analyze financial large data, interpret trends, and generate reports exactly to assess the financial health of the life insurance business segment.
  • Good knowledge of Sun system is preferred.

Soft skills

  • Proficiency with computers, especially Power BI and MS Office.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

Personal attributes

  • Attention to detail and the ability to analyze large amounts of data.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Willingness to comply with all local and company regulations.

4. Challenges

  • Deeply understand about Life Insurance accounting process and system.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
